REVIEW OF THE ALBUM UNDER THE PENTAGRAM BY SKYCONQUEROR

Skyconqueror is a classic heavy metal band from Germany, formed in 1997 comprised by Carsten Stiens on the drums, Mirko Jankord on the bass, axemaster Jan Tappert and vocals by Daniel Hiller.
The band released three demos in their early years until the release of their first full length in 2008, Hellstory, taking the band to give plenty gigs in the following years and then releasing their second album Under the Pentagram at the beginning of July 2014.

The band forged a combination of hard rock and heavy metal sound as seen on the NWOBHM bands of the late 70s and early 80s, the influences are high from bands like Accept, Saxon or Dio which is something awesome!

The album break the silence with Monolith offering an excellent riff taken straight from the early NWOBHM when hard rocker tunes blue rock influenced melted with aggressive heavy metal blasts, great feeling with the vocals, mid range style in a melodic technique and then attacking fast with Demon, really epic song with forceful heavy structure and those kind of chorus made to raise your fists, remarkable guitar job on the second half bringing back that approach from the first line up of the germans Accept.

The Sanctuary of 83 develop a strong pulse mid tempo drumbeats, excellent composition as the guitars and the vocals dancing around this thunderous rhythm, linking to the galloping riffs on the vein of Iron Maiden, Horseman of the Grail, headbanging piece with one of the best chorus of the album; as the acoustic guitars of The Dusk take you to an intense ballad, offering a fantastic vocal perception that leads to the tittle track Under the Pentagram as another classic heavy metal headbanging act with strong drumbeats, also following the same strategy it continues with Fallen Rainbow Warrior developing NWOBHM genuine riffs with influences from Saxon.

Without a break the mid tempo pulse of Bells of Fate bring you up wrecking your necks adding a good catchy chorus, made to be shouted at the gigs. Outstanding tune guys!

Through different eyes is an in crescendo instrumental track that links with Running high in a fantastic hard rocker riff start  that is combined with early heavy metal at perfection, and following to the next and last song of the album, Blade of Black, following the combination of styles characteristic of the band, being the sign of their music and also adding some power metal elements.

Skyconqueror forged an exceptional album combining the hard rock roots with the sharp dangerous heavy metal sound of the early 80s, every single track is good and the guys made a good job together as a band. With Under the Pentagram I'm sure they will get to the next level, keeping the heavy metal roots intact demonstrating that the Traditional Heavy Metal is back and stronger than ever.

REVIEW OF GOD, GOLD AND GLORY BY SALVACION

Salvacion is a Traditional Heavy metal band from Wilmington, North Carolina (US) formed in 2009, releasing three albums, Going to Hell (2010), Way more unstoppable (2011) and the last album released in 2014, God Gold and Glory. The band have had lineup changes in every album, being the former memebers of the band the sole responsible for this work, Carlos Sergio Denogean on the drums and Nick Sponsel playing the guitars, bass, organ, e-bow and vocals.

God Gold and Glory stands for the way of thinking of the european explorers of the 15th and 16th Century about the new world; Salvacion forged here a strong heavy metal record with drippings of hard rock and power metal in general, Take Overture break the silence taking you to the ship rounded the wild sea and thunder linked with Fortune, great mid fast power metal  with remarkable composition on the guitars, adding elements from Progressive and high pitched sharp vocals clearly influenced by Judas Priest frontman Halford.

Obsidian knife explode with galloping axes, excellent track, pure classic heavy metal missile with a powerful headbanging action through verses and chorus as it continues with Stroke of Luck, combining strong heavy metal with hard rock melodies mixed incredibly well, high pitched vocals at the end are amazing.

Hard Rock elements with strong drumbeats are the ingredients of Gambler's Throw, similar composition like hard rock bands on the vein of Airbourne, headbanging and extremely catchy chorus, incredible second half on the vocals, leaving you breathless the evil chords of Satan, Shame and Steel unveils an outstanding speed heavy metal track with thrash metal elements, but also managing to introduce hard rock moments in the chorus, awesome drums in this moshpiting act continued by  Savage Reprisal, created with epic elements, sophisticated army-like pulse and theatrical vocals will make you raise your fists while breaking your necks!

Way more unstoppable heralds the fast headbanging hard rock -heavy metal style, encapsulating the band finest hour and becoming the best track of the album.

Overall Salvacion created anther excellent album that progress from the power and heavy metal combining lots of hard rock elements perfectly well, defining a style coming from the early 80s NWOBHM that every metalhead will like, the production need to improve but its still awesome,
God Gold and Glory will make you bang your heads!

REVIEW OF THE ALBUM REDEEMER OF SOULS BY JUDAS PRIEST

Judas Priest seventeenth studio album is out now, Redeemer of souls is the first album in the history of Judas Priest without KK Downing, with Mr Faulkner on the axes and also the return of a classic Judas Priest record after the concept album Nostradamus which was in my opinion one of the best composed works by the metal gods, but it needed more of classic Judas Priest action.

As promised, Judas Priest's Redeemer of Souls is a full-classic Priest work, with reminiscences of previews Priest eras, mostly from Painkiller and Angel of Retribution and also taking a bit from Killing Machine or Ram it down; the album starts with the rain and thunder as a background when Dragonaut main riff explodes in a mid-fast tempo headbanging bomb, Nightcrawler memories with the first verses unveils an epic memorable bridge and chorus, to follow with the tittle track  Redeemer of Souls, one of the most listened tracks being their first song to be unveiled before the release of the album, mid paced act, also with this epic element perfectly melted into most of the songs in the album, excellent riffs on the chorus as the Halls of Valhalla continue in crescendo and the main riff reveals one of this speed heavy metal tracks on the vein of Painkiller or Freewheel Burning, adding the dose of Epic power and an outstanding strong main riff, Remarkable the chorus on the high pitched screams and astonishing verses! Halford scream also in the second half of the track will make this piece one of the all-time classic songs looking face to face to shots like Metal Meltdown or Ram it down.

Sword of Damocles continues this masterpiece as a slow-mid pulse incredibly epic where the theatrical act by Halford is something exceptional, and also remark the composition on the second half of the song to the end, truly powerful.

March of the Damned headbanging rhythm is next, this time the composition has similarities with Ozzy mixed with Priest strength creation, breathtaking song also with reminiscences of the track Metal Gods, that continues with Down in Flames, as another mid paced heavy metal classic, epic verses and hard rocking chorus!
Hell and Back begins with accoustic guitars evolving to a mid tempo track with influences from the Killing Machine era, awesome catchy chorus and excellent evolution to the end of the piece where they introduce guitar elements used in the Ram it Down album, just outstanding and very effective! continuing with Cold Blooded defined like a mid tempo ballad with drippings of Love Bites with a long chorus and outstanding instrumental!

Metalizer explodes with forceful drumbeats, mid and fast changing pulses continuously from verses to chorus amazingly well and effective, riveting from start to finish linking the action to Crossfire, 70s blues influenced hard rocker track with guitar riffs similar as those used in the Ram it down album, Halford vocals are amazing here, mastering again the hard rock and heavy metal screams!

Secrets of the Dead unveils an atmospheric mid slow paced track, perfect harmony on the guitars with the vocals as the background voices appear in the chorus with a superb architecture; but don't relax now because you gotta get ready for another surprise with Battle Cry, as the epic riffs transforms and twist to a epic speed metal piece, straight away you will start banging your head, mid high pitched vocals here are amazing, astonishing job by Halford in this track! Total consistency on every instrument, being another masterpiece inside this Redeemer of Souls, and linking it to the last piece, Beginning of the End, the ballad of this album, acoustic guitars dominate like tracks like Before the Dawn or Last Rose of the Summer; just overwhelming, so intense!

The album also contains five extra tracks that could have perfectly fitted in this long length, like the hard rocker, catchy chorused British steel-like songs Snakebite and Bring it on, or the heavy  mid fast tempo Tears of Blood, stunning Priest classic as well as Creatures, melodic heavy metal all the way. I have to remark the last song Never Forget, acoustic ballad that will get really deep to your heart, outstanding melodies by the metal gods!

Redeemer of Souls is probably one of the best Priest works, being the best since their reunion, Faulkner fit perfectly in the band, what a great job man! and also Awesome job Tipton, Hill, Travis and Halford; everyone here demonstrate once more they are the masters of metal, giving a lesson of metal and being again influence for many new bands for sure.
The album encapsulates many Judas Priest moments from the preview albums like Killing Machine, Ram it down or Painkiller combined at perfection, elevating the range adding this epic style well used since Nostradamus album, every step Judas Priest has made in their history lead to this album, resulting in another Masterpiece of genuine Heavy Metal

THE PRIEST IS BACK

REVIEW ALBUM AGE OF PANDORA BY NOTHGARD

Nothgard is an epic melodic death metal band from Germany formed in 2009, they released their first full length in 2011 called Warhorns of Midgard receiving positive feedback from the media.Their sound is a combination of pagan epic death metal with drippings of power, black and thrash metal clearly defined by bands like Equilibrium or Ensiferum (note that the vocalist/lead guitar Dom R. Crey joined Equilibrium recently). Age of Pandora will be released on the 12th of September 2014 with Trollzorn label and distributed by Soulfood and AFMRecords (worldwide).

Age of Pandora develop a technical epic death metal combined with power and thrash elements, starting with "Of light and shadow" taking you into an epic instrumental act amazingly effective that links to the tittle track Age of Pandora, one of the best anthems of the record, mixing the aggressive death headbanging metal bomb with changes of pace with the orchestrated chorus. Add to this combo a good dose of progressive neoclassical mayhem on the guitars to enjoy this shot as a masterpiece.

Blackened seed continues the strategy wth a mid tempo epic track combined with pagan melodies and a strong straight chorus made for the crowd to shout in their gigs, followed by Black witch venture as an orchestrated epic death metal mid and fast tempo, awesome job by the guitars forging a theatrical track with drippings of modern melodic chorus.

In blood remained the machine gun start genuine oldschool death metal will make you bang your heads, the evolution take this track to include epic power metal moments in the chorus backed by a victory taste guitar riffs; continued by Anima waking up the same epic power death feelings but this time being the turn of the epic thrash metal missile into your brains, outstanding job on the drums here and also remarkable theatrical act by the vocals.

Obey the king is another excellent creation of death metal, theatrical growling vocals and astonishing composition  structure following classical music as a base for the consolidation of the band as a whole, in harmony every time.

Wings of dawn follows a mid pulsed death bomb wih an astonishing catchy power battle chorus as Moshback children attack you with one of the strongest rhythms and most angry acts, moshpiting riveting track, excellent job combining thrash and death.

No one holds the crown is one of the hits of the album comprising an increscendo structure with death epic roots supported by orchestral and progressive elements, encapsulating the sound of the band's style, headbanging till the end, great shade from the metal attack to the epic orchestra that ends the album.

Nothgard second attack is coming to take you to an epic battle, the composition has been taken care in every detail, from the orchestra to the different shots of death, thrash and power metal, resulting in a real masterpiece, reaching the level of top epic death metal bands.

REVIEW OF THE EP CHAINS BY BANDEMONIC

Bandemonic is a heavy metal band from Ioannina, Greece, formed in 2009 they worked hard on their first EP "Chains" released in 2012 and now getting ready for their first full length coming next October; let's get this EP in detail!

The album is in general a combination of mid-fast tempo tracks in contrast with slow pulse ballads situating the style into the early 80s era mixed with Judas Priest influenced from the 90s.
The seeker begins with a dark atmosphere background rain as the intro explodes in an outstanding classic heavy speed metal style piece, as the rhythm accelerates getting you into the moshpit and keeping you banging your head, definitely a heavy metal anthem to be remembered.
Chains is a mid tempo strong and straight track with a remarkable job by the vocalist demonstrating the high pitched screams mixed with mids and lows, one of the best of the EP with a tremendous architecture with headbanging changes of speed continued by one of the ballads, Don't regret...just regret, a crescendo structure track that grows in an intense ballad following to Nightmare, a fast-mid changing rhythm heavy metal track with even some oldschool thrash metal breathtaking dripping moments.

Sail to Heaven powerful start reveal a potent ballad with a sophisticated act on the drums, the last two songs are more complex in composition than the other tracks! Excellent job on the guitars at the end of the song, linking it to the last act, Hunting Illusions, continuing the rhythm of the previous ballad with reminiscences to The crimson idol era by WASP, and changing the pulse amazingly well in the middle of the track detonating the pure classic heavy metal bomb being the highlights of the band style.

Admirable job! after listening to the ep in detail you can see the whole story, being a job in harmony like a concept album where the changes of rhythms are abundant, keeping the genuine roots of the old school heavy metal filled with passion and glory. Exceptional job that will leave the listener hungry for more, and the first full length is coming soon so be aware, Bandemonic is rising!

8 / 10
